Getting to Legacy ER
- How does Online Check-In work? What information should I have handy?
- Online Check-In saves time (and trees!) by allowing you to securely provide essential information to Legacy ER electronically ahead of your arrival. Simply complete the information as prompted, and we will call you to arrange your visit. You should have accessible a current list of patient allergies, medications and any other remedies being taken.
- What information do I need to bring with me?
- It is always a good idea for patients to have an up-to-date list of all medications and dosages being taken, including any vitamins, supplements, herbal remedies, as well as the patient's allergies. If you don't have a list, you can bring the medication bottles. Also bring any insurance cards or information for filing. Check In Now!
Checking In
- How long should I expect a visit to take?
- In most cases, you can expect to be seen, treated and released in less than an hour.
- How long before I'm actually seen by a doctor?
- You can expect to be seen by a board-certified ER physician in as few as 15 minutes.
What to Expect
- How can you treat patients so much faster than an urgent care center or hospital-based emergency room?
- In short, because of our founding physicians' vision, streamlined processes, advanced technology — and respect for our patients. Our facility's layout is highly efficient, and we have outfitted it with state-of-the-art equipment. Our on-site, hospital-level laboratory can produce results within minutes. We have both X-ray equipment and a 4th-generation multislice high-speed CT scanner, which saves time by generating four sets of images at once. Our all-digital radiology suite also offers real-time readings of X-rays/CT scans by a board-certified radiologist.
We also have the latest computer technology, which allows us to automate processes, minimize paperwork, generate electronic health records and file insurance claims electronically. - Why should I go to Legacy ER versus a hospital emergency room?
- You have access to the services of both a full-service, freestanding emergency room and a leading-edge urgent care center. Instead of waiting for hours in a crowded, chaotic environment, you can be seen almost immediately, with short turnarounds on results. Get all the capabilities of a hospital ER faster, for a lower cost, with far less stress and more TLC! We also offer a well-designed, soothing environment focused on your comfort.
- Will a nurse practitioner or physician assistant be the one delivering the medical care?
- All patients are evaluated and treated by a highly qualified, board-certified emergency physician and owner of Legacy ER.
- What kinds of capabilities does Legacy ER have for heart problems?
- Our on-site defibrillators, pacing and monitoring equipment, state-of-the-art laboratory with Stat lab capabilities, cardiac enzyme assays, oxygen, and EKG and monitoring capabilities enable us to provide care for all cardiac patients.
- Do you treat children?
- Absolutely - Legacy ER is child-friendly with staff physicians who have worked in both of Dallas' recognized childrens' hospital emergency rooms. We are well-qualified to address any pediatric emergency or medical issue that arises, even with infants. We have a dedicated waiting area for children to help put them at ease.
- What credentials are held by Legacy ER and its physicians?
- All of our physicians are highly experienced and respected board-certified specialists in emergency medicine. Our on-site laboratory is COLA-accredited and CLIA-certified, and our facility is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Capabilities and Advantages of Legacy ER
- What happens if it's necessary to be admitted to the hospital for further care?
- Legacy ER will call an ambulance and arrange the transfer to an area hospital, making every effort to ease admittance to your hospital of choice. In most cases, we can arrange for direct admission to the hospital if necessary, usually bypassing the hospital ER. Our ambulance bay also allows patients requiring ambulance transportation to enter or exit directly from their treatment room with greater privacy.
- What if I have a problem or question after my trip to Legacy ER?
- If you or your child is still feeling poorly, or you have additional symptoms, questions or problems with a prescribed medication, please give us a call. You are still under our care and we are here to help.
- Do you coordinate care with other physicians?
- Yes - we are here for after-hours care and when your personal physician is unavailable. To ensure the best possible care, we will coordinate with your regular physician for any continuing care needs. Per your direction we will communicate with your physician and send your records electronically, so your medical files include information on your visit to Legacy ER.
Coordination with Hospitals and Personal Physicians
- What kinds of insurance do you accept?
- We accept all private insurance plans, including employer-provided insurance, group insurance, workers comp, and individual policies.
- What kinds of payments do you accept?
- We accept private insurance, cash, check, debit cards, and the following credit cards: Discover, MasterCard, VISA, and American Express.
- Will Legacy ER file my insurance?
- Yes. We will be happy to file the claim electronically with your insurance company.
- What if I have no insurance, or a high-deductible/catastrophic health plan?
- You will be responsible for payment; however, we offer a discount if you pay your bill in full at the time of service.
- Are there any ways to reduce my costs?
- We offer a significant discount if you pay your bill in full at the time of service.
- Am I going to pay for emergency room and ER physician rates for a less serious problem?
- Absolutely not. Although under one roof, our ER and urgent care facilities are considered separate providers, so patients are billed according to the actual services used. And even though every patient sees a board-certified emergency medicine specialist, you won't pay extra for that even if it's a minor problem. Further, we have established a very clear, objective protocol for determining whether a patient's condition warrants emergency room or urgent care, based on an assessment by our triage nurse upon arrival.
