Legacy ER & Urgent Care Supports Frisco Education Foundation
Dr. Kirk Mahon of Frisco's Legacy ER
(Frisco, June 1st, 2011) Legacy ER & Urgent Care is proud to support Frisco Education Foundation in providing college scholarships to Frisco ISD seniors. On May 12th the Frisco Education Foundation hosted their 12th annual Frisco ISD Scholarship Night, a night to remember for many FISD students, their families and supporters. Since 1999 the foundation has awarded more than 2.7 million dollars in scholarship funds to high school seniors in Frisco. The event took place in the marvelous Dr. Pepper/Star Center Arena with 369 seniors being presented scholarships for a combined total of $482,349.99 in scholarship funds. The night started with Mary Valentine, the Frisco Education Foundation CEO, talking about the foundation and their wonderful journey for the past 12 years. The night ended with a beautiful reception for all students, families and participants to celebrate.
Legacy ER & Urgent Care, as well as several other local businesses, participated with their own scholarship donation. Dr. Kirk Mahon, one of Legacy ERÕs founders and emergency room physicians, participated in the event and was very pleased to see the community coming together to support our children. ÒOur children are our future. It was very rewarding to see everyone from the school board members to local businesses and associations coming together to support them.Ó said Dr. Mahon. Legacy ER & Urgent Care scholarship was given to Heather Odom, a senior at Wakeland High School. Heather plans to attend Texas A&M and study nursing. Her dream is to help others and give back to the community. ÒLegacy ER & Urgent CareÕs generosity has inspired me to help others, both as a nurse and helping other students achieve their goals just as they have done for meÓ, said Heather. Heather plans on becoming a pediatric nurse, but is open to other areas as well. She will start school in the fall and graduate in the Spring of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
About Frisco Education Foundation

Besides the scholarship program, they also host other fundraising events throughout the year, including their Annual Chili Challenge at Pizza Hut Park on October 14th, 2011 and Gary Burns Fun Run at Frisco Square on October 29th, 2011.
