Why Do We Offer Pediatric Care?
Infants, children and teenagers up to 18 should see a pediatrician, a specialist in health care for babies, children and teens.
It’s important to keep in mind that children are prone to many of the same injuries and illnesses as adults. However, their smaller body size and physical and mental immaturity are very different from those of adults, and it takes expert knowledge to treat those differences.
Clearly, standards for dealing with a child’s blood pressure, breathing rate, heart rate and temperature aren’t the same as those for adults. The injury patterns for children are also often different. Small children have a larger head-to-body ratio and are more prone to head and neck injuries because of it. Those who specialize in treating children are more aware of the warning signs for these injuries in children. Other common pediatric problems and conditions we treat include infections and accidents.
At Legacy, our pediatricians work closely with other specialists and health care professionals. If you have concerns about your child, call your primary health care provider or visit one of our convenient Dallas-Fort Worth area Legacy ER & Urgent Care locations.
