Legacy ER & Urgent Care Founder Speaks Out About COVID-19 Outbreak

During this time of uncertainty, Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Jay Woody, MD, wants to reassure our patients that Legacy ER & Urgent Care ensures safety while providing for your healthcare needs.

On Thursday, March 12th, 2020, Dr. Woody wrote an open letter to the Legacy ER community, that reads:


In this time of uncertainty, I wanted to reach out to you personally to let you know what Legacy ER & Urgent Care is doing to ensure your safety when we provide for your healthcare needs. The Legacy ER & Urgent Care team is experienced, trained, and well-equipped to provide safe & reliable care during this developing COVID-19 outbreak. Since 2008 Legacy ER & Urgent Care team has safely and effectively provided care during other novel virus outbreaks including, the Swine Flu and Zika.

Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals is ready and taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our patients and staff, including:

  • We are following the most rigorous CDC/HD sanitation guidelines for cleaning times and types of cleaning materials used
  • Continuous disinfection wipe-downs of all high-touch areas like the registration area, patient chairs, equipment, etc.
  • Rapid identification of patients exhibiting any cold or flu symptoms and requiring that they wear a protective mask
  • All personnel with any cold or flu symptoms are needed to stay home
  • Complete staff training & education to provide the safest care possible

Working with our public health partners, we want to encourage any patients with symptoms who think they may have been exposed to COVID-19 to contact the health department in the county that they live in to allow the healthcare community to be able to collaborate care as we all work together.
